Exclusive: Nissan Teana coming to UAE?

Is Nissan planning to bring the Teana saloon to the UAE? It may well be on the cards, as undisguised Teana sedans have been spotted being transported to Nissan’s Jebel Ali HQ.

Our exclusive spy photos shows a ‘200XL’ sedan – in other markets, that equates to a car with a 2-litre engine with 136bhp and 140lb ft of torque, married to a CVT gearbox.
The Teana is a large saloon based on Nissan’s ‘D’ platform; a flexible base which has spawned a number of cars including the Maxima, Altima and the Murano SUV. Thus far, it’s found a home in the South East Asian markets like Thailand and Malaysia where large cars are popular but heavy taxation restricts engine sizes to under two litres.
There is of course, no guarantee that this is the spec that will go on sale – or in fact, if the Teana will ever go on sale here in the UAE at all. It’s entirely possible that Nissan Middle East may be conducting hot weather testing on the car on behalf of its Japanese parent.
